♫ I have been playing for 46 years and teaching guitar professionally since 1992, when Don’t Fret Guitar Instruction was established. Over the years,
I have taught countless students (beginners to advanced) how to play or improve their chops.

♫ Formerly teaching full time at Long & McQuades in Cobourg ON.
♫ Former owner/operator of Don’t Fret Guitar Instruction in Port Hope ON, a retail/music lesson outlet. We were located at 68 Wellington Street and operated at that location for 7 years. Past students include four members of PROTEST THE HERO.

From the introduction:
With this book, my goal is to relate the scales with chords and rhythms as opposed to just learning solos or licks and having no idea how to apply them. Good rhythm playing and knowledge is crucial to good soloing and vice versa. This comes through understanding the relationship between chords and scales. This book provides that important foundation.
The book is unique in the fact that each chapter is based around a different key signature and an open (contains unfretted notes), pattern of the pentatonic scale. There are five chapters covering the key signatures of E, A, D, G and C, and the five open ‘box patterns’ (scale patterns) of the pentatonic scale.

Current projects
Devon Rose Henderson is an upcoming singer/songwriter, pianist, guitarist, harmonicist in the indie country folk style of Little Big Town, Alison Krauss, Clare Bowen & Sam Palladio (Nashville). The songs come from the heart, written in a haunting, melodic, somewhat Celtic vein. There is a strong emphasis on acoustic work. Together with guitarist, bassist, drummer, mandolinist, vocalist, producer, songwriter, Lorne K. Hemmerling, they have created some very beautiful and powerful songs.

Past projects
♫ 'JackHammer’ a blues rock cover band. I was responsible for arrangements, rhythm and lead guitar duties.

♫ Produced, directed, composed and transcribed all of the narration and music for the holiday production ‘A Life Of Christmas’, which we performed at Victoria Hall in Cobourg every season. The show combines story and song. Many of the tunes are originals, combined with traditional Christmas songs in the style of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
